About The Mince Pie ProjectOur mission is to harness the creativity of the UK’s best chefs, to raise money and fight child poverty. We do this through an auction of mince pies from 100 top chefs, held over 7 days each Christmas.
The project was started in 2011, by Peter Butler. He came up with the idea in November and ran the first auction from his kitchen table 6 weeks later. These days, we put together a small team each year to help run the project. We are also generously supported by a number of partners, without whom the project could not happen.
Described as a “Roaring success” by Channel 4, we are regularly joined by the likes of Michel Roux Jr, Raymond Blanc, Angela Hartnett and Marcus Wareing. We have been covered by BBC One, BBC London, The Guardian and the Daily Mail, amongst many others.
The project has raised £40,000 in total since 2011. Money raised (minus some unavoidable costs, £1,700 last year) is split equally between two chosen charities, rotated each year, who work to help fight child poverty in the UK. Our charities for 2013 are Kids Company and FoodCycle, and we hope that this year will be the biggest and best yet.
We have big plans for the future, so if you’d like to know more or get involved please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our site and hear our story, and we wish you a great Christmas.
